What is the DSA Open House?
- It’s when students register and get class information
- It’s a chance for you to join the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and a great time to buy spirit wear
- It’s your chance to meet teachers, staff and other students and their families
- It’s the main fundraiser for the PTA

WHAT IS THE DSA PTSA ENRICHMENT FUND?
Our MAIN fundraiser for the PTSA is at Open House. That’s right-no selling magazines or candy or fruit for the PTA!
100% of your donation goes back to benefit your students in BOTH ACADEMICS and ARTS.
Last year, thanks to your efforts, we raised over $13,000 that went right back into teacher and department grants such as:
- Support for students attending the Drama Thespians conference
- Support for HighLeit and ProArte to attend a competition at Auburn University
- Matching support for students and faculty to attend the National Arts Advocacy Conference
- Reading Bowl books
- Essays for AP Language
- USB flash drives for Media Department
- Smart Music Subscriptions for Band and Orchestra
- Photos of the Spring Musical for the Technical Department
- And many more!
Please note that revenue from ticket sales for DSA performances go directly into the costs of holding those performances (set materials, costumes, lighting, program printing, etc.) and have a separate budget from the PTSA.
WHAT IS THE DSA PTA AND HOW DOES IT BENEFIT ME?
The DSA PTA is open to all parents, families, teachers, and students. By becoming a member of the PTA, you also become a member of the Georgia PTA and the National PTA with individual member benefits.
The DSA PTA provides grants to the DSA faculty and staff through the Enrichment Fund and supports Teacher/Staff Appreciation events like monthly lunches through the Teacher Appreciation Fund.
The PTA also helps to coordinate the larger volunteer efforts to staff PTA-sponsored events such as the Welcome Picnic, New Student Welcome Breakfast, Spirit Wear and Concession at performances, and Teacher/Staff Appreciation Lunches.
The Volunteer Coordinators for volunteers during performance are also part of the PTSA. Lastly, the PTA Board supports students and families as an additional liaison to DSA administration and staff.
